As part of the Best Western Plus Hôtel Masséna Nice's CSR policy, our day-to-day work involves keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible, prioritising local suppliers, upholding sustainable tourism and ensuring our guests' and employees' wellbeing.
The hotel strives to bring guests an enjoyable Nice holiday and unique experience whilst doing its bit for the environment.
The Hôtel Masséna Nice now provides guests with Café Joyeux coffee pods on arrival in some rooms with Nespresso machines. The partnership was the natural next step in the Summer Hotels Group's CSR policy, celebrating values such as community, responsibility and hospitality.
Café Joyeux, a social and inclusive coffee
So what is Café Joyeux? It's the first group of social cafés and coffee to train and hire people with developmental disorders, mainly people with Down's Syndrome or ASD. The training staff includes HR, management, cooking consultants and specialist trainers.
What's the idea? To shine a light on disability in our towns and lives by building bridges and providing employment to people who sadly often struggle to get work. Café Joyeux wants all its colleagues to gain self-confidence, experience and feel part of society.
Any profits from the coffee pods are donated to fund new outlets in France. All the pods are biodegradable and compostable. The bright yellow smiley logo is instantly recognisable and the slogan captures the vision "Joyeux servi avec le cœur" (Joy served with love).
